karen barbé

01.20.10

last night i was wandering through flickr.  looking at photos from my contacts and their contacts and so on… and then i stumbled across the work of karen barbé.  my first thought was how amazing it is - the use of color, the mixture of motifs - really beautiful work.  and then i also thought, haven’t i seen this somewhere before?  i think i must have seen her on another blog.  so if you have already seen her work, my apologies for the repeat, but if you haven’t you should definitely take a few minutes to check out karen’s shop.

and speaking of feathers

01.19.10

a painting that i had been working on just last week.  i guess i’ve sort of had feathers on my mind for awhile now.

wow.  i mean really, wow.  i’ve got a soft spot for feather necklaces, as you can see here.  a little online browsing yesterday and i came across this one.  love.

clay wood & cotton

01.08.10

over the weekend i made my way down to beacon to a new shop called clay wood & cotton.  now before i tell you how cute it is i must admit they carry some of my work so i am slightly biased :)

but truly, even if i was not involved with them it really is a great store!  housewares, paper goods, ceramics, as well as fabric and a few diy kits for the crafty among us.

taking a break

12.23.09

poor neglected blog.  i haven’t posted since the beginning of the month and when i do finally come to post it’s only to say that i’m taking a break!

i’ve been going nonstop since the beginning of november and i am tired. i need to relax, unwind, stop thinking, stop doing. just for a little while.  so i’m going to take this time between the christmas holiday and the new year to spend good quality time with chris and dexter and family and friends.

hope you all have a lovely holiday and a happy new year!

snow

ps - this photo of me is not recent. despite living in the mountains we haven’t had snow in weeks!  it just seemed appropriate to the post so i thought i’d add it.

busy girl

12.07.09

my apologies that posting has been more sporadic than usual lately. i’ve been a busy bee. lots of holiday shows which have been keeping me printing in the studio all during the week and then away from home selling on the weekends.

this past sunday i attended the bizarre bazaar in boston. what a great show!  the cyclorama, where it was held, is a beautiful space and the crowd was fun and energetic. a great time all the way around!

my  neighbor at the show was albertine press. if you don’t already know their work i suggest you make yourself acquainted here and here.  i came home with this lovely calendar which you can see more photos of and purchase for yourself right here.

some current faves over at anthropologie.  i’m particularly smitten with the stripey one in the lower right.

everbrite mercantile

11.30.09

this past weekend i had the good fortune to meet mollie dash.  mollie is a brooklyn based artist who has recently launched a new online shop called everbrite mercantile.  such a cool and eclectic collection of goods.  see two of my favorites below and check out everything they have to offer here.

my very own fabric

11.25.09

as you may know from past blog posts i’ve attempted to have fabric printed with my patterns with less than stellar results. i’m so happy to say i’ve found a company who can accommodate a small business (ie. no huge minimums) and offers a large range of organic fabrics and uses eco-friendly printing methods to boot!

i had two patterns printed on a really nice organic cotton and i’m delighted with the way they turned out.  you can only see one of the prints in the photo below so you’ll just have to trust me that the coordinating pattern is cute as well :)  these are coming with me to the gifted market this weekend and if i have any left i’ll be posting them in the shop next week.

holiday ornaments

11.19.09

these are some new ornaments i’ve been making.  a little different from last years ornaments, this year i decided to combine machine and hand embroidery.  i like how simple they are.  i also like that they’re square, it gives them a little bit of quirky. i think i’ll make more but in less traditional colors.
