the beginnings of something i’m working on -

i’m getting ready to pack up my things and head to philadelphia. this saturday and sunday i’ll be participating in art star craft bazaar. i’ve never done this show before and i’m really excited! it’s help at penn’s landing which is a really beautiful spot right on the water. fingers crossed for no rain. i’ll post photos from the show at the beginning of next week.
also, i decided to take those spoonflower swatches i had printed and make magnets out of them. i think they look pretty cute and i’m happy i was able to use the fabric for something. i’m going to bring them to the show with me and any that i have left over i’ll post in my shop next week.

these are some new designs that i’ve sent to spoonflower to have printed on fabric. i ordered 8″ square samples for now so i can see how the color prints. i’ll post the actual swatches when i receive them.

browsing the anthropologie website today i was really loving the diamond and lattice i noticed throughout the site.

finally, after much foot dragging on my part, i’ve got a new print in my etsy shop. i’ve printed it on a long sleeve shirt and will be doing it on short sleeved shirts in the near future.

it’s a rainy sunday here in the mountains. i’ve been puttering around, playing with the dog and gearing up to make some corn bread (yum). i’ve also been going through my shelves and revisiting old books that i haven’t looked at in awhile.
i happened across an old catalog from the rug company (if you are in the soho area definitely worth a visit). i’m so glad i saved this book, i still find so many of the images inspiring. a few of my faves below.

i’ve been meaning to post about this for awhile, over at the dover website you can sign up to receive weekly emails containing free samples of content from their books.
here’s an example of some of the samples that came in a recent email -

sometimes things don’t work out the way you think they are going to. as i had mentioned in an earlier post i had a rough idea of what i wanted my holiday cards to look like:
i did lots of tweaking but nothing seemed to work. the tree seemed sad and not at all festive. not that i was looking to design a card with a large jolly man on it or anything but just something that was happy without being overly “christmasey”. eventually after much trial and error i came up with this:
and this:
