design crush - ronel jordaan
06.23.10i came across the work of ronel jordaan and was instantly in love. after working as a textile designer for 26 years she started experimenting with felt. entirely self-taught, she now has an amazing range of products including cushions, scarves, wall hangings, throws and more. check out her site to learn more about her and see more of her incredible work. some of my favorite pieces below.

brahms mount
06.14.10i came across this website the other day and really wanted to share what i found.
brahms mount is a textile mill making the most beautiful heirloom quality fabrics. these are the kinds of blankets and towels that you keep for forever and then pass down.
everything they make is created on antique shuttle looms using natural fibers. located up in maine, right on the kennebec river, it sounds like a little slice of heaven.
i’ll take one of each please.

twist recap
05.24.10a long overdue recap of the twist fair earlier this month. forgive me that these aren’t my actual photos from the show, none of them turned out very well.
there were some great vendors (as usual) and i was so happy to take part in the show. some of my faves featured below -
amazing decoupaged plates by mary yanke. all of her work is beautiful, trying to pick just one favorite to show here was hard -

beautiful stationary from pressbound -

and some really cool hats from rocks and salt. i’m such a hat person! i’m sort of kicking myself for not having picked one up.

reliquaries
05.21.10browsing online the other night i came across these. i love them! like a shadow box but better. oh the things i could put in them… leaves, twigs, feathers, bugs, i could go on but you get the point.
and i just so happen to have some of dexter’s baby teeth. i’ve been holding on to them in a small jar but i love the idea of displaying them in one of these. does that seem weird?
