saturday on thursday

Last Saturday I went to the Catskill Native Nursery. I meant to write about it all week but somehow now it’s Thursday afternoon and I’m just finding time to do it. Where did the week go?

This nursery is my idea of a little slice of heaven on earth.  It’s run with minimal fossil fuels, mostly solar and wind power. They don’t use greenhouses, just shade houses and cold frames to strengthen the plants. And the selection! My god, I could go on…  Trees, shrubs, wildflowers, fruits, even wetland plants. And all are suitable for growing in the cooler climate of the mountains.

Oh, and they have tons of statues, pots and planters.  How cool is that raven in the last photo? I want him for my garden.
